Vigan City Fiesta Celebration


           The Vigan City Fiesta is held in honour of St. Paul the Apostle, the city’s patron saint every 25th of January. The festival has turned into a group cabinet as Vigan longganisa, a local rendition of Mexican salami, has a particular garlicky taste that has turned into a most loved of the Filipino sense of taste. Vigan's garlic and sugarcane vinegar are said to be all the more delightful.

Vigan-Fiesta            Vigan’s main church, the Metropolitan Cathedral is dedicated to St. Paul and 4it stands at the core of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia. The major Catholic educational institution in Vigan that stands beside the church is also dedicated to the patron, the St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. The Vigan City Fiesta usually lasts for several days. It includes within the period the celebration of the anniversary of the cityhood of Vigan.

           The Vigan longaganisa is a small and plump native sausage, good for about two or three bites. It is garlicky and has a yellowish color. Although it is eaten anytime, even as a bread filling, it is traditional favored as breakfast fare together with fried eggs and steamed or fried rice.


           For this celebration, street dance, parade, musical performances, beauty contest and many more are the happenings in this celebration.


          New year is one of our holiday, right? Well, new year means another journey may happen to our life. New year is something to do with us where we are waiting for the upcoming year. This celebration occurs during midnight of December 31st and January 1st. This must be a special day to us.

          Last January 1st, we celebrated the New year's celebration together with our relatives and friends. Round fruits are prepared under our tables. Also we wear round objects into our clothes. The streets are very loud because of the motorcyclist. Some are also tie metal basin at the tip of their motor so that it will become more louder. We also light our firecrackers. We do all of this to drive a
          This celebration means a lot to me because it gives me opportunity to change myself for the past years. I wanted to change my heart, my soul, my personalities, and also to accept God into ourselves.
